Notes 5.0.2 Incremental Installer Causes "Invalid MSVCRT.DLL" Error Message

Technote Number: 1088471

Problem:
The customer found that prior to using the incremental upgrade, the MSVCRT.DLL
version on his computer was 6.00.8447.0, dated 3/23/99; and after the upgrade
it changed to version 4.20.6164, but had a later date of 8/12/99.

A workaround is to reinstall Microsoft's Visual Studio Service Pak 3 or other
MS service pak with newer DLLs.

This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and was addressed in Notes
5.0.2a Client.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino 5.0.2a QMU fix list:
Install
- SPR# JPIU4DW7JW - Prevent the Incremental Installer from changing system dlls
(such as MSVCRT.DLL) to the version installed with Notes/Domino except when we
require a newer version than that in the previous version of Notes/Domino. In
that case, we will only update if the user has the exact version we had
previously.

A further problem was discovered in the incremental installer for 5.0.2a. The
MSVCRT.DLL file has been further modified in Notes 5.0.2b Client and 5.0.3
Client.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.3 QMR fix list:
Install
- SPR# HHII4ED5C9 - Correctly upgrade MSVCRT.DLL to the version shipped with
Notes/Domino R5 if the user has an older version as a result of using the
incremental installer upgrade to R5.0.2a. [5.0.2b,5.0.3]
